Paul Woodring lives in Del Mar, California with his wife and their two dogs. In 2005, he
retired from the position of President of the Hospital Division of a large medical device firm. Paul grew
up in Cleveland, Ohio and is an Electrical Engineering graduate of Cleveland State University. Paul has
been a creative "intrapreneur" and entrepreneur for all of his professional career. In
the mid 1970's, he managed the design of the first multi-computer system that dynamically shared computer program tasks associated
with managing electrical power plants. In 1977, along with several friends, he opened and operated
the second Computer Land franchise in the country located in West Los Angeles. In the early 1980's
he directed the development of the first microprocessor based life support ventilator, a product that went on to become
the most used life support ventilator in the U.S. At the same company, he directed the development of the first
Windows based Hospital Respiratory Department Management Information System. He has held positions in industry
that have ranged from Chief Engineer to President. In 1996, he formed InVentive Technologies
which developed the first touch screen ventilator that allowed for use of invasive and noninvasive ventilation in the same
device. InVentive Technologies was eventually acquired by the large medical device firm that Paul worked
at until his retirement. After retirement, he consulted for the firm for several years.
Paul is actively working on several new fiction and nonfiction books.
He has developed a screenplay based on Inventions. In addition, Paul continues his entrepreneurship
as he is working with several startup companies and serves on the board of one.
